Benchwarmers: choose and plan a quest

Choose a Tape to Tape Benchwarmer Quest

The short answer

Plan your Tape to Tape run around the named character’s quest condition, not just unlocking or recruiting that character. The current Steam achievement records list eight Benchwarmer Quests. Peak Performance asks for every Benchwarmer Quest; owning every Benchwarmer is a different collection goal.

Before starting, distinguish an event that must happen once, a total within one run, a condition that must exist simultaneously, and a restriction that must survive a winning run. Mixing those scopes is an easy way to spend a long attempt on the wrong goal.

The eight current quest targets

Quest characterTarget to plan aroundCommon misreading
Buster BrewsterActivate the ability 100 times within one run.A lifetime total spread over different attempts.
Freddy KovalskiScore 20 goals in one run.The whole team’s goals or assists.
Mark BenchPlay him in every game, never bench him, and win the run.Meeting the lineup rule but losing the campaign.
Maurice CassouletAccumulate 200 knockouts in a single run.Combining several runs.
Stu StumpleHave 4 injuries at the same time.Four separate injuries that have already healed.
Boring DudeHave 8 talents simultaneously.Eight rewards spread across players or attempts.
Ricky KirbyTake a shot with critical chance at least 100%.Seeing a percentage without making the qualifying shot.
Sally PoppinsScore 10 goals while enraged during one run.Goals made before or after the enraged state.

Choose a run that can support the objective

Kovalski’s goal challenge has a source-backed scoring plan: use him at center and build the offense around feeding him chances. Boring Dude’s talent challenge depends much more on which random rewards appear. Choose between those tasks according to the character and opportunities you actually have.

For a high-action target such as 100 ability uses or 200 knockouts, decide at the start that this is the run’s priority. That is planning advice, not a verified route that supplies enough encounters or cooldown reductions to guarantee the total.

Protect the condition through lineup changes

  1. Read the quest attached to the intended character before committing to the run.
  2. Keep its scope visible in your plan: one run, simultaneous state, a qualifying action, or a final win.
  3. Before recruiting, substituting, healing or trading a talent, consider whether that choice would undo the condition you need.
  4. For Mark Bench, check every lineup decision against the never-benched restriction; for Boring Dude, count concurrent talents rather than rewards earned.
  5. Confirm completion in your game’s quest/achievement record. A community story or a character unlock is not itself your completion result.

Keep quests separate from changed Squad unlocks

CS 13985 changed some Squad availability and unlock conditions. A historical Steam Squad-achievement description can therefore remain visible even when a Squad is already selectable. Do not use the list above as a complete current Squad-unlock table.

The eight quest objectives are a useful planning checklist. They are not eight independently tested guaranteed routes; the detailed Boring Dude and Kovalski guides explain the actual reports and their limits.

Check the result

You can choose one of the eight quests, identify its scope and avoid confusing Peak Performance with merely unlocking characters.
