Benchwarmers: choose and plan a quest
Score twenty goals with Freddy Kovalski
ReviewedTape to Tape’s current Steam quest is named Freddy Kovalski and requires twenty goals within one run. Current players recommend putting him at center, developing his scoring role and deliberately feeding him chances rather than spreading the task across your team.
Community posts sometimes spell the name Kowalski. The quest name here follows the current Steam record. Count goals by the intended character in the same campaign attempt; assists and other skaters’ goals are not substitutes.

Make him the planned scorer
- Start an attempt in which the intended character is available and confirm the twenty-goal quest.
- Place him at center if your current lineup permits it; this is the position used in the community reports.
- When choosing useful player improvements, consider the skater you are asking to finish the chances. The source recommends strengthening him but does not establish a universal best-stat build.
- Keep track of his goals during this attempt. Do not carry an old run’s total into the next one.
Use the reported center–wing–center chance
ska.one describes moving forward with the center until the opposing defense pressures him, passing to the right wing, then returning the puck to the center after he moves into space. The intended finish comes from that new position rather than shooting immediately into a set goalie.
The author reported using this pattern for at least ten goals during the challenge on Pro. That is one player’s result, not a guaranteed rate. Their Squad was not named, and Modern’s offsides rule still applies when relevant.
Execution and conversion are different
A completed return pass does not guarantee a goal. If you prepare a one-timer, use the source-limited input practice in the linked guide; current players disagree about release versus continued hold, so this quest guide does not settle that by inventing a universal button rule.
Keep the qualifying skater as the finisher when creating an appropriate chance, but preserve enough defense to keep the run alive. Twenty goals are counted in one run, not necessarily one game.
If the quest has not completed
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Which player scored? | Team scoring can hide that the intended skater is still below twenty. |
| Goals or assists? | Creating a goal for another skater is useful but a different stat. |
| One run or several? | The quest’s single-run condition does not combine failed attempts. |
| Current quest status? | A source’s route is not evidence that your own completion registered. |
Check the result
The qualifying character scores twenty goals in the same run and your own quest/achievement status confirms it.
