Use the rules of the Squad you selected

Read the puck effect before trusting a Dominator lead

The short answer

Tape to Tape's Dominator Squad combines four-on-four play with Lucky Pucks that can produce positive or negative score effects. Do not count every goal as an ordinary one-point event. Read the effect currently shown and compare the scoreboard before and after the scoring play.

The source's Veteran session used Score mode without a Timer switch. That observation is specific to the demonstrated setup; it does not establish every difficulty's selector or a universal settings restriction.

Treat the modifier as part of the possession

  1. At setup, note the actual match objective and available mode controls in your version.
  2. When a Lucky Puck effect is displayed, read it before deciding that the next opportunity is an ordinary goal.
  3. Keep the current score in view and compare the change after the play rather than relying only on the celebration.
  4. Reassess the remaining margin and next possession using the new scoreboard.
  5. If the result surprises you, record the displayed effect and before/after scores before assuming a scoring bug.

The +3 and −2 examples are not a complete effect list

The guide reports a +3 Money Puck and a separate −2 event. Those are examples showing why ordinary goal counting can mislead you. They do not define the entire Lucky Puck pool, its probabilities, a fixed sequence or the recipient of every possible modifier.

Our suggested check is to keep observations small: identify what appeared, what you attempted, and which score changed. A list of remembered goals without their modifiers is weaker evidence when you are trying to explain an unexpected result.

Review the lead after every swing

A lead that feels comfortable under ordinary scoring may deserve a different decision here. Before sending another player deep into an attack, ask whether your remaining coverage can handle losing possession. That is a decision prompt rather than a claimed formula for winning Dominator.

Also identify who can collect the next loose puck. With four-on-four play, use the actual positions on screen rather than automatically borrowing an arrangement from a different Squad. The defensive lane guide remains useful practice, but it does not certify every Dominator formation.

Keep a different selector separate from the scoring effect

If your installed version offers a different mode choice, describe the Squad, difficulty and displayed options. A difference from the author's Veteran setup does not invalidate the effect you can actually read, and this page does not recommend changing unrelated global difficulty settings to force that example.

Check the result

You can explain the observed score change using its displayed effect and adjust the next decision to the actual remaining margin.
