How to play Tape to Tape with friends

The short answer

Tape to Tape: You can play on the same team and play the entire campaign cooperatively. Tape to Tape does not have native online multiplayer; for friends on different computers, the Steam version supports Remote Play Together. It streams one host's local game instead of creating a separate in-game online lobby.

Choose the kind of session you want

The current local-co-op discussion initially confused shared-system play with the absence of co-op. Later replies clarify that players can be teammates and can play the entire campaign, rather than only opposing one another in a single match.

Start Steam Remote Play Together

These are Steam's platform steps; they are not an invented Tape to Tape lobby menu.

  1. The host launches Tape to Tape through Steam.
  2. From the Steam Friends List, the host invites the friend to Remote Play Together.
  3. The friend accepts the invitation.
  4. Use the game's local multiplayer session with the connected players. The host can manage guests' shared keyboard and mouse access through Remote Play.
  • One host owns and runs the game for the streamed session.
  • The experience depends on the host and the connection; this page does not promise that it will behave like native online multiplayer.

How many players can join?

Keep the mode separate from the headline number. The current Steam description advertises up to ten players in Play Now, and a player in the launch discussion reports assigning ten controllers in custom games. Neither statement establishes a ten-player campaign.

The developer's website still says four local players, while another participant reports a successful four-person Parsec session. Because the official descriptions differ and the exact campaign cap is not resolved in the thread, this guide does not promise ten-player campaign co-op.

What about Parsec?

The store also names Parsec as an option, and a current participant reports playing with four people that way. This page does not provide a Parsec configuration guide or claim that one participant's setup will work for every group.

If you use Steam, Remote Play Together provides an officially documented route to try first. This is a practical starting point, not a measured claim that it has lower latency than another service.

Confirm that the session is doing what you intended

Before beginning a long campaign attempt, make sure everyone can control their assigned local player and that you have chosen cooperative team play rather than an opposing-team match. This is a suggested session check, not a claim about a specific current menu label.

A missing native online lobby is not evidence that campaign co-op is unavailable. Conversely, a successful custom match with many controllers does not prove the same capacity in the campaign.

Check the result

Your group has selected local play or a streamed local session, can control the intended teammates, and knows that the full campaign is cooperative without assuming an unverified campaign player cap.
